Countries Cheering...

The world is watching...a lot of sports right now.  With the World Cup down to the final four teams, the past couple weeks have been full of cheering fans from around the world.  Literally.  That's the global reach soccer has around the world and the level of fandom is epic in some countries.  Sadly, the U.S. didn't even make it into the World Cup this year so our fandom with soccer is at a faint hum.  But, it didn't take away from the excitement and agony of watching Russia vs. Croatia yesterday.  That was a good game to watch, especially since it came down to penalty kicks.  Gotta love it!

From the ruckus nature of fandom in soccer to the classic traditions of Wimbledon.  It too has been watched by many around the world over the past week.  Again, fans cheering on their favorites and their countries own is always special at this tournament.  The finals for the men and the World Cup final will both be played next Sunday.  It's going to be a fun-filled sports watching day for many around the world!

These kinds of tournaments are what makes you remember why you love your own country so much.  And, why it's so fun to be a fan and cheer for your country!  That's why I love the Olympics so much!  It unites a country no matter what internal or domestic chaos is going on.  It galvanizes a country toward a common cause and just for a split second (which is all it takes in some sports) it unites everyone.  As I've said before, there are too many labels in society now that we all tend to retreat to and then fiercely defend those boxes we've put ourselves in, instead of putting our selves in someone's shoes...literally.  Or seeing a situation from a different perspective, or even if we don't agree with another person's view then having compassion, respect and/or understanding for that person...that's what we're lacking these days.  Sigh.

But, keep on cheering for your favorites teams or person next week.  It should be fun to watch and I'm sure there will be thousands watching around the world.

Blessings to you in the week ahead!!
